Welcome to The Hearth Loaf!

I'm Muna, the passionate baker behind this venture, where science meets the art of baking. My journey into the world of bread started long before I opened my microbakery, rooted in a background in microbiology. Fascinated by the intricate dance of wild yeast and bacteria, I found my calling in the ancient traditions of bread making, particularly the rich heritage of German and Nordic styles.

At our bakery, we don’t just bake bread-we create an experience. What makes our sourdough truly unique is the way we cultivate and care for our starters. Using a variety of carefully developed sourdough cultures, we bring out deep, complex flavours in each loaf through a slow and thoughtful fermentation process. Every loaf has its own character, crafted to enhance the natural qualities of the grains we use.

Unlike mass-produced sourdough, our bread is made in small batches, using time-honoured techniques that allow for the layers of flavour to develop. The result is a bread that’s not just delicious, but one-of-a-kind, offering rich taste and texture you won’t find anywhere else. Whether it’s rustic crust, the soft chewy crumb, or the subtle tang that leaves you wanting more, our sourdough is a true labor of love.

In 2023, I was delighted and honored to partner with Arva Flour Mills Inc., where I had the privilege of selling my breads twice a week. This partnership was a significant milestone, allowing me to connect with more bread enthusiasts and share my creations with a broader community.
