Welcome to The Hearth Loaf!
I’m Muna, the passionate baker behind this venture where science meets the art of baking. My journey into the world of bread began long before I opened this microbakery, shaped by my background in microbiology. Fascinated by the intricate dance of wild yeast and bacteria, I discovered my calling in the ancient traditions of bread making, particularly the rich heritage of German and Nordic styles.
At The Hearth Loaf, we don’t just bake bread—we craft an experience. Each loaf is born from carefully nurtured sourdough cultures, developed to bring out deep, complex flavors through slow fermentation. This process highlights the grains’ natural qualities, making every loaf as unique as the hands that knead it.
In 2023, I had the privilege of partnering with Arva Flour Mills Inc., selling bread twice a week at one of Canada’s oldest operating mills. In 2024, I was honored to be featured on CBC for baking mustache-shaped loaves in support of Movember. The heartfelt feedback from our community inspired us to keep raising awareness for men’s health, and we continue to donate a portion of our bread sales to this meaningful cause.
